At Lake Nokomis Presbyterian Church we all share in leadership in different ways. We each bring our particular personalities and passions as we participate in God’s love in the world in this time and place.
Our session of elders equips the whole congregation for ministry through prayer, discernment and support of the various ministry teams. Our deacons lead us in congregational care, prayer and visitation.
Rev. Kara K Root is our pastor. She brings her honesty and energy and her gifts of preaching and teaching into the life of our community. She blogs about ministry and motherhood, and shares sermons, at in the hereandnow.
Jeanne Rylander is our Music Director. Her creativity and gifts shape our worship. She weaves piano, harp, organ, a lively, engaged choir and music from a variety of traditions into our Sunday and Saturday services, and our worship at St. Joe’s.
Rev. Dr. Theresa Latini is our Parish Associate. She brings her insight and experience and training in Compassionate Communication (non-violent communication) into the life and ministry of our community, and supports our deacons in their leadership. Theresa is Associate Professor of Congregational Care at Luther Seminary.
Carolyn Cochrane is our Coordinator of Children’s Ministries. With imagination and energy, she helps children explore God’s Story and their own stories through Sunday school and worship in fun and inspired ways.
Jan Johnson is our Office Manager. She has been with us for 20 years, and blesses the community with her gentle patience and calm presence as she supports the ministry of the congregation in countless ways.
Kathy Trudell Johnson is our custodian. With humor and joy, she enables our ministry of hospitality by helping us care well for our space so that it may be a blessing to others.
