| HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? |
Nonmembers are welcome at any social or mission events and educational classes sponsored by the church. All are encouraged to take part in all of the regular and special services offered at Lake Nokomis throughout the year. Various roles on Sunday mornings are available to anyone interested, including:
Usher, Reading Scripture/Liturgist, Choir member, Fellowship host, participation on any one of the congregations ministry teams: Administration, Membership, Worship, or Christian Education.
Helping the the children's Sunday School or Nursery requires a background check.
Until chosing membership, you cannot hold church office (e.g., Elder or Deacon) or vote in church elections.

| IS THERE SUNDAY SCHOOL AT THIS CHURCH? |
During the “regular” or “school” year there is Sunday school held prior to the worship service. For children, all ages share in learning in one classroom. Adults share in an hour of education concurrently, with topics varying from Bible Study to theology to Christian responses to current topics. |
| WHAT KIND OF YOUTH ACTIVITIES OR PROGRAMS DO THEY HAVE AT THIS CHURCH? |
This congregation is committed to (and has a track record of ) full integration of it’s young people, including youth in many roles, including leadership, in virtually every activity of the church and Presbytery. While there are no activities currently, due to a lack of Jr/Sr High Youth, there is a history of youth participation in social events like “hang out nights”, “lock-ins” and retreats, and three have been many mission trips to communities around the Midwest, frequently in a relief capacity. |
| HOW IS THIS CONGREGATION RELATED TO A LARGER CHURCH OR DENOMINATION? |
Lake Nokomis Presbyterian is part of the Presbytery of The Twin Cities Area, a regional gathering of 70 Presbyterian congregations. The Presbytery in turn, sends representatives biennially to the General Assembly of the national church, the Presbyterian Church (USA). For information about presbyterians, follow the PC(USA) link.
Representatives to presbytery are elected by the congregations and sessions of their member churches. Policy and doctrine (the constitution) is based upon two documents, the Book of Order and the Book of Confessions. These are constantly being reformed and updated by the General Assembly and derive their authoritative statements from the Bible.
Individual congregations select, or “call,” their own clergy, who may or may not be current members of the local Presbytery, with the approval of the Presbytery.
Our Presbytery is also part of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies, which serves to coordinate administrative and logistical needs across Presbyteries.
