Milestones in Black History A helpful overview of American history from 1600 to current. African Americans have faced enslavement, discrimination, and segregation in this country, but that's not the whole story.  African Americans have shaped our country's arts, culture, science, sports, and politics. Honoring this nation's history and the people who have gone before means telling the whole story.
