PAUSING IN-PERSON WORSHIP GATHERINGS:
This decision to pause in-person gatherings lives out our strong commitment to upholding each other.
We belong to each other, so we are doing what we can to prevent the spread of the virus.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
We belong to each other. We are staying connected.
GO HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON HOW WE ARE NAVIGATING DECISIONS ABOUT GATHERING.
Set aside SABBATH TIME - perhaps ON SUNDAYS:
In this strange time, our work and rest are tangled up, and it's easy to feel the pressure to be productive as a way to measure our worth. We recommend setting aside one day a week (perhaps the rest of the day following our worship service) to stay off of TV, phones and other sources of news and distraction. Take a Sabbath. Do something that brings joy. After spending time in worship, remembering that we belong to God and each other, let yourself rest in some gentleness and pause to let that soak in deeper.
Some Sabbath ideas: Get out in the fresh air. Take a nap. Read poetry or scripture. Create art, food or crafts that bring joy. Do yoga. Relax in the tub. Play a board game. Build legos. Write a letter. Look through photo albums. Be human in a non-plugged-in way for one day, at least once a week.
Taking Sabbath time will help you return to the situation of being human right now with more grace, perspective and courage.
