This Spring, in worship, we are looking at our lectionary scriptures through the lens of practicing our belonging to God and each other, the simple but challenging work (non-work?) of receiving our lives.
WE WILL DISCUSS PASTOR KARA'S BOOK, RECEIVING THIS LIFE IN CHURCH CHAT MAY 15.
APRIL 7 & 13 : Receiving What Is
We practice receiving our belonging by being simply human, we abide with Christ by being with each other, we cultivate availability by being here, now, and we practice being free by resting.
APRIL 21 & 28: Receiving What's Difficult
We practice receiving what's difficult in our lives by repenting, or being found, and by praying or being honest with God. We are rooted in God's love when we narrate our experiences, and by being empty, we surrender, and God meets us there with mercy and grace.
MAY 5 & 8: Receiving What God Is Doing
We practice receiving what God is doing right now in our lives and in the world by participating, or being what God is doing, by noticing, or attuning to what God is doing and by blessing, or celebrating what God is doing.
MAY19 PENTECOST & MAY 25: Receiving What God Has Already Done
We receive what God has already done when we welcome God's judgment that releases condemnation, when we welcome God's freedom by releasing our egos,, and when we practice forgiving, or letting go.
JUNE 2 & 9: Receiving What Will Be
We practicing receiving God's future by waiting, or living in anticipation, by living without fear in the human act dying which we are all engaged in, by living out hope in the "even if"promises of God, and by using our imaginations to live now what what will be.
Pastor Kara's new book could be an optional read-along if you want to supplement our worship journey with devotions, prayers and prayer practices that come from LNPC's life together. We will also discuss it on May 15 in Church Chat.
There are two copies in the church library, and you can buy one in the Gathering Room beginning April 27.
